The "Excellence Award for Young Scientist" was created by Korea Federation of Women's Science and Technology Associations(KOFWST) to recognize women scientists and engineers who have the potentials to elevate the nation’s competitiveness in science through great passion, dedication and remarkable achievement in their work.
Candidates should be a young women scientist with impressive research achievements, who demonstrates great potential in the science sector with a Korean nationality living in Korea or abroad
Candidates should be either master students/Ph.D candidates or Ph.D graduates and post-doc researchers within 5 years of their graduation
Candidates should be alive as of the date of the recommendation (If a successful candidate passes away after the recommendation deadline, the laureate shall be the candidate and the prize will be given to the heir).
Selection of winners
Selection of winners would be done by the Award Committee. The selection of winners will be decided after the screening process based on qualifications and accomplishments. If necessary for verifying the achievements of any candidate, the Award Committee may conduct interviews and on-site investigations.

Young Scientist Award at AMOREPACIFIC Award for Outstanding Women in the Sciences(2009)
The award was given out as AMOREPACIFIC Excellence Award of Young Women Scientists until 2009. The category was excluded from the competition since 2010. In order to promote and encourage future women scientists and engineers who have the potential to lead advancement of Korea’s science and technology, KOFWST has reinstated and presented the award since 2010.
